Abstract

Narrative Structure Analysis of Riri Interactive Children's Stories: A Study of "Dikutuk Jadi Batu" and "Bahaya! Riri Terjebak di Dunia Timun Mas & Buto Ijo" using Vladimir Propp's Theory. This study aims to analyze the narrative structure and character function distribution in two animated stories from the Riri Interactive Children's Story series: "Dikutuk Jadi Batu" and "Bahaya! Riri Terjebak di Dunia Timun Mas & Buto Ijo," utilizing Vladimir Propp's Morphology of the Folktale. The increasing popularity of digital story media necessitates a deep understanding of its narrative construction to maximize its educational potential. The research employed a descriptive-qualitative method with a structural approach. Data were collected by watching and transcribing the animation videos, followed by analysis focused on identifying Propp's 31 narrative functions and the seven spheres of action (character roles) within the stories. The results indicate that the two stories possess complete and well-structured narratives, comprising a beginning, middle, and end, although not all of Propp's 31 functions are present (21 functions in "Dikutuk Jadi Batu" and 28 in "Bahaya! Riri Terjebak di Dunia Timun Mas & Buto Ijo"). Both stories clearly present character roles (Villain, Hero, Donor, etc.) that drive the plot and deliver strong moral messages, such as the importance of keeping promises and courage in facing challenges. The conclusion is that the Riri Interactive Children's Story animation is highly suitable as an enjoyable and contextual medium for teaching narrative structure and moral values in elementary schools.
