Gold colloids were successfully synthesized by utilizing oil palm leaf extract as a Bio-synthesis medium, natural reducing agent, and stabilizer. The use of natural reducing agents from plant extracts can replace dangerous and expensive chemical reducing agents. The purpose of this study is to form gold colloids through an environmentally friendly process, namely utilizing secondary metabolites such as Alkaloids, Flavonoids, and Tannins in oil palm leaf extract (Elaeis guineensis J) as natural reducing agents of Au3+ ions to Auo. In addition, oil palm leaf extract also functions as a chelating agent and stabilizer of gold colloids. XRD results show an average crystallite size of gold colloids of 22.8 nm with a face-centered cubic (FCC) shape. The average distribution of gold colloidal particle size is 27.5 nm with a zeta charge of -20 mV. This indicates the stability of gold colloids for 30 days.
