Pengaruh Pemahaman Konsep dan Kemampuan Numerasi Terhadap Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematika

The ability to understand mathematical concepts is a fundamental skill that students must have in carrying out learning activities in the classroom. Numeracy skills also has an important role in supporting students to solve mathematical problems. Numeracy refers to an individual’s ability to use mathematical knowledge to solve problems in everyday life. Observations conducted at public junior high schools in Bekasi City showed that most students experienced difficulties in understanding concepts as well as in performing simple calculations. This condition has implications for the weakness of students’ mathematical problem-solving ability. The type of research used is quantitative with a survey as the data collection method, and the data obtained in this study were analyzed using path analysis to determine the influence among variables. Based on the results of the study, the following findings were obtained: (1) There is a significant direct effect of understanding mathematical concepts on mathematical problem-solving ability, as evidenced by a t-score of 4.595 and sig. = 0.000 < 0.05; (2) There is a significant direct effect of numeracy ability on mathematical problem-solving ability, as evidenced by a t-score of 6.515 and sig. = 0.000 < 0.05; (3) There is a significant direct effect of understanding mathematical concepts on numeracy ability, as evidenced by a t-score of 4.080 and sig. = 0.000 < 0.05; (4) There is an indirect effect of understanding mathematical concepts on mathematical problem-solving ability through numeracy, as evidenced by a calculated t-value > t-table (2.588 > 1.662) with an indirect effect coefficient of P321 = P21 × P32 = 0.559 × 0.443 = 0.248.
