Most Indonesian students still experience difficulties in solving contextual problems that require reasoning and data interpretation. This indicates that students' difficulties lie in their ability to understand problems, connect concepts, manipulate information, and choose appropriate solution strategies. This study aims to determine the effect of self-efficacy on mathematical problem solving abilities, the effect of learning independence on mathematical problem solving abilities, the effect of self-efficacy on learning independence, and the indirect effect of self-efficacy on mathematical problem-solving abilities through learning independence. This study was conducted using a quantitative approach with a correlational survey method and data analysis techniques for hypothesis testing using path analysis. This study was conducted in a Public Junior High School in South Jakarta with a population of 1080 and a sample size of 134. The sampling technique was carried out using proportionate stratified random sampling. The results of the study show: 1) There is a significant direct effect of self-efficacy on students' learning independence, 2) There is a significant direct effect of self-efficacy on mathematical problem solving abilities, 3) There is a significant direct effect of learning independence on mathematical problem solving abilities, 4) There is a significant indirect effect of self-efficacy on mathematical problem solving abilities through learning independence.
