Abstract

Reflective ability in science is an important skill that shows students' deep understanding of scientific concepts and their ability to evaluate and connect these concepts to real-world situations. This study aims to examine the combined effect of scientific literacy and critical thinking disposition on students' reflective thinking ability in science, as well as the individual effects of scientific literacy and critical thinking disposition on reflective thinking ability in science. The sample in this study consists of students from the eighth grade during the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, attending a private junior high school in South Jakarta, with a total of 85 respondents. The research plan uses a survey method with three variables, consisting of two independent variables: scientific literacy and critical thinking disposition, and one dependent variable: reflective thinking ability in science. Data analysis is conducted using correlation and multiple regression techniques. Research findings indicate that: 1) There is a significant combined influence of scientific literacy and critical thinking disposition on the reflective thinking ability of junior high school students in private schools located in South Jakarta. This is shown by the obtained Sig. value of 0.00, which is less than 0.05, and the Fhit value of 67.700. 2) There is a significant effect of scientific literacy on the reflective thinking ability of junior high school students in private schools located in South Jakarta. This is supported by the obtained Sig value of 0.03, which is less than 0.05, and the t-count of 4.791. There is a significant influence of critical thinking disposition on the reflective thinking ability of junior high school students in South Jakarta's private schools. This is demonstrated by the obtained value of Sig. = 0.012, which is less than 0.05, and thit = 3.967.
