Abstract

This study aims to determine: 1) the influence of emotional intelligence and independent learning together on the critical thinking ability of mathematics of private high school students in West Jakarta, 2) the influence of emotional intelligence on the critical thinking ability of mathematics of private high school students in West Jakarta, 3) the influence of independent learning on the critical thinking ability of mathematics of private high school students in West Jakarta. The study was conducted using a correlational survey method. The population was grade X students of private high schools in West Jakarta with a sample of 72 students. The research instruments used were questionnaires for emotional intelligence and independent learning and essay questions for critical thinking ability of mathematics. Data analysis used multiple linear regression techniques. The results of the study: 1) there is a significant influence between emotional intelligence and independent learning together on the critical thinking ability of mathematics of private high school students in West Jakarta City. This is evidenced by the value of Sig = 0.000 <0.05 and Fcount = 26.248, 2) there is a significant influence of emotional intelligence on the critical thinking ability of mathematics of private high school students in West Jakarta City. This is proven by the value of Sig = 0.000 < 0.05 and t count = 5.060, and 3) there is a significant influence between learning independence on the critical thinking ability of mathematics of private high school students in West Jakarta City. This is proven by the value of Sig = 0.000 < 0.05 and t count = 5.785.
