Keywords:
Mathematical Problem Solving Ability, Emotional Intelligence, Self-EfficacyAbstract
The purpose of this study was to determine: 1) the influence of emotional intelligence and self-afficacy together on the mathematical problem-solving abilities of junior high school students in Cilegon city, 2) the influence of emotional intelligence on the mathematical problem-solving abilities of junior high school students in Cilegon city, 3) the influence of self-efficacy on the mathematical problem-solving ability of junior high school students in Cilegon city. The sample used was 88 students as a research sample using proportional stratified random sampling technique with multiple linear regression test. Based on the hypothesis and data analysis, the following conclusions are drawn: 1) there is a significant influence of emotional intelligence and self-efficacy together on the mathematical problem-solving ability of junior high school students in Cilegon city. This is evidenced by the value of sig. = 0,000 < 0,05 and F hitung = 48.170, 2) there is a significant influence of emotional intelligence on the mathematical problem-solving ability of junior high school students in Cilegon city. This is evidenced by the value of sig. = 0,000 < 0,05 and t hitung = 4.730, 3) there is a significant influence of self-efficacy on the mathematical problem-solving ability of junior high school students in Cilegon city. This is evidenced by the value of sig. = 0,001 < 0,05 and t hitung = 3,511. The implication of these findings suggest that emotional intelligence and self-efficacy play a significant role in supporting students mathematical problem solving abilities. Therefore, efforts to improve students self-efficacy can be a strategy for strengthening emotional intelligence, which will ultimately have a positive impact on mathematical problem solving abilities.
