Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine: 1) The effect of learning models on the understanding of mathematical concepts, 2) The effect of learning independence on the understanding of mathematical concepts, and 3) The effect of interactive learning models and learning independence on the understanding of mathematical concepts among vocational high school students in Serang District. The method used in this research is an quasi-experimental method. The population in this study is the tenth-grade students at Muhammadiyah Pontang Vocational School with a total of 565 students and a sample size of 80 students. Research results: 1) There is an influence of the learning model on mathematical concept understanding. This is evidenced by a Sig. value of 0.022 < 0.05 and F calculated = 5.429. 2) There is an influence of learning independence on mathematical concept understanding. This is evidenced by a Sig. value of 0.000 > 0.05 and F calculated = 67.052. 3) There is no influence of the learning model and learning independence on mathematical concept understanding. This is indicated by a Sig. value of 0.842 < 0.05 and t calculated = 0.040.
