Analisis semiotika visual adaptasi karakter antropomorfis dalam Game Umamusume: Pretty Derby

Fenomena antropomorfisme dalam game memperlihatkan meningkatnya penggunaan entitas non-manusia sebagai dasar pembentukan karakter. Namun, kajian yang menghubungkan referensi historis objek nyata dengan konstruksi representasi visual dan naratif dalam desain karakter masih terbatas. Penelitian ini menganalisis proses adaptasi antropomorfis dalam Umamusume: Pretty Derby dalam merekonstruksi identitas kuda pacu nyata ke dalam bentuk karakter budaya populer. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisis konten dan semiotika Roland Barthes melalui pembacaan denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos. Objek penelitian difokuskan pada karakter Tokai Teio, Gold Ship, dan Haru Urara dengan membandingkan data historis kuda pacu asli dan representasinya dalam game serta anime. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adaptasi antropomorfis bekerja sebagai proses translasi semiotik yang mengubah karakteristik biologis, performatif, dan historis kuda pacu menjadi atribut visual, kostum, gestur, serta kepribadian karakter. Pada tingkat denotatif, elemen visual menghadirkan ciri dasar kuda dan identitas karakter; pada tingkat konotatif, narasi dan desain memperkuat asosiasi dengan sifat, prestasi, dan memori historis kuda pacu; sedangkan pada tingkat mitos, karakter dikonstruksi sebagai figur populer yang menggabungkan nostalgia olahraga, hiburan, dan identitas moe dalam budaya digital Jepang. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa desain karakter dalam Umamusume: Pretty Derby berfungsi sebagai sistem representasi yang merekonstruksi identitas historis ke dalam format media populer digital.
