Journal History

Starting from Volume 6 Number 1 (September 2018), Jurnal Desain revised its author guidelines, including changing the article format from a two-column layout to a single-column layout. The journal also began accepting manuscripts written in both English and Indonesian.

Since Volume 6 Number 2 (January 2019), all published articles in Jurnal Desain have been assigned Digital Object Identifiers (DOI).

Jurnal Desain obtained national accreditation rank 5 (SINTA 5) based on the Decree of the Director General of Strengthening Research and Development, Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia, Number 10/E/KPT/2019, concerning the Results of Journal Accreditation for Period II of 2019. This accreditation was valid for five years, covering publications from Volume 4 Number 3 (2017) to Volume 8 Number 2 (2021).

Beginning with Volume 8 Number 1 (September 2020), Jurnal Desain adopted The Chicago Manual of Style 17th Edition, replacing the previous Modern Language Association (MLA) 8th Edition, which required adjustments to the manuscript template.

Subsequently, Jurnal Desain achieved national accreditation rank 4 (SINTA 4) based on the Decree of the Minister of Research and Technology/Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency, Number 200/M/KPT/2020, concerning the Results of Journal Accreditation for Period III of 2020. This accreditation is valid for five years, from Volume 7 Number 3 (2020) to Volume 12 Number 2 (2025).

Starting from Volume 11 Number 1 (September 2023), Jurnal Desain implemented changes to its logo and article template and adopted the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th Edition for citation and referencing standards.

As of April 1, 2024, Jurnal Desain introduced a Fast Track Review Service, a special service designed to provide faster review responses for manuscripts addressing current issues, requiring rapid publication, or meeting other urgent author needs. This service does not guarantee manuscript acceptance.

In July 2024, Jurnal Desain was officially indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

Starting December 2024, all authors submitting manuscripts to Jurnal Desain are required to include an Integrity Pact as part of the submission process.

Beginning January 2025, Jurnal Desain implemented an Article Processing Charge (APC) of IDR 500,000 for manuscripts submitted, processed, and published from that date onward.

In February 2025, Jurnal Desain reorganized its editorial team structure in accordance with the Editorial Guidelines for the Management of Scientific Journals issued by the Directorate of Intellectual Property Management, Deputy for Research and Development Strengthening, Ministry of Research, Technology, and National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), in 2020.

From May 6 to June 8, 2025, the journal’s website was temporarily inaccessible due to a malware attack, resulting in the unavailability of visitor statistics during that period.

Starting July 9, 2025, Jurnal Desain migrated to a new journal management system at https://newjournal.lppmunindra.ac.id/index.php/jurnal_desain. All manuscript submission, peer-review, and publication processes are now conducted through this platform. Manuscripts that had completed the review process and reached the editing stage on the previous website continued their production process under the new system. Manuscripts still undergoing review or unassigned at the time of migration were resubmitted and processed accordingly. The previous website remains accessible exclusively for archival purposes, hosting publications from Volume 1 Number 1 (2013) to Volume 12 Number 3 (2025).

The new journal management system, previously operated using OJS version 3.3, was upgraded to OJS version 3.5, and manual data migration was conducted from August 7 to August 31, 2025, to ensure continuity of the submission and peer-review records.

Starting from Volume 13 Number 1 (September 2025), Jurnal Desain introduced a new article template and implemented a double-blind peer-review process involving two reviewers for each manuscript, except for manuscripts that were already in the editing or review stage on the previous website.

Beginning with Volume 13 Number 1 (September 2025), the journal also changed its publication frequency from triannual to quarterly. Previously published in September, January, and May, the journal now publishes four issues annually in September, December, March, and June.

A minor adjustment to the article template was implemented starting from Volume 13 Number 3 (2026).

To enhance both publication capacity and quality assurance, Jurnal Desain expanded its editorial team by appointing additional section editors and reviewers, effective from Volume 13 Number 3 (March 2026).

Jurnal Desain achieved national reaccreditation rank 3 (SINTA 3) based on the Decree of the Director General of Research and Development, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Number 295/C/C3/KPT/2026, concerning the Results of Journal Reaccreditation for Period II of 2025. This reaccreditation upgraded the journal’s rank from SINTA 4 to SINTA 3, effective from Volume 12 Number 2 (2025) to Volume 17 Number 1 (2030).
