Ownership and Management

Jurnal Desain is owned and published by Universitas Indraprasta PGRI, Jakarta, Indonesia.

The journal is academically and editorially managed by its Editorial Team, led by the Editor-in-Chief, with operational support from Section Editors and other editorial personnel, and scholarly advice from the Editorial Advisory Board. Members of the Editorial Advisory Board may also serve as peer reviewers when their expertise is relevant, provided that they meet the journal's reviewer qualification, independence, confidentiality, and conflict-of-interest requirements. External peer reviewers and, where appropriate, qualified members of the Editorial Advisory Board provide independent scholarly evaluation of submitted manuscripts.

The Editorial Team is responsible for maintaining the scholarly quality, integrity, relevance, and continuity of the journal in accordance with established editorial policies, publication ethics, and peer-review procedures.

Editorial Independence

Jurnal Desain maintains editorial independence in the assessment, peer review, revision, acceptance, and publication of submitted manuscripts.

Editorial decisions are based on:

  • relevance to the journal's Focus and Scope;
  • scholarly quality and originality;
  • methodological and analytical rigor;
  • adequacy of research evidence;
  • research integrity;
  • publication ethics;
  • reviewer assessments;
  • adequacy of author revisions; and
  • overall publication readiness.

The publisher, institutional authorities, sponsors, authors, reviewers, advertisers, or other external parties must not improperly influence editorial or peer-review decisions through financial, institutional, personal, commercial, or other non-scholarly considerations.

Editorial Decision-Making

External peer reviewers provide independent scholarly evaluations and recommendations.

Following peer review and revision, the Section Editor evaluates the revised manuscript, the authors' Response to Reviewers, and the reviewers' comments and recommendations, and provides an editorial recommendation to the Editor-in-Chief.

The final editorial decision remains the responsibility of the Editor-in-Chief.

Editorial decisions are not determined solely by reviewer voting or recommendation categories. The Editor-in-Chief considers the scholarly basis of the reviewer reports, the adequacy of the revisions, the Section Editor's recommendation, ethical compliance, research integrity, and the manuscript's overall suitability for publication.

Independence from Publication Fees

Editorial assessment, peer review, and final editorial decisions are conducted independently of publication-related payments.

The payment of an Article Processing Charge (APC) or Fast-Track Review fee does not influence:

  • whether a manuscript passes the Initial Editorial Assessment;
  • reviewer selection;
  • reviewer recommendations;
  • revision requirements;
  • acceptance or rejection; or
  • publication priority.

An APC is payable only after a manuscript has formally received an Accepted editorial decision.

Fast-Track Review is an optional expedited processing pathway and does not guarantee acceptance, publication, publication in a particular issue, or issuance of a Letter of Acceptance within a predetermined period.

Roles of the Publisher

As the publisher of Jurnal Desain, Universitas Indraprasta PGRI supports the continuity and sustainability of the journal, including its publishing infrastructure, institutional administration, digital platform, and scholarly dissemination.

The publisher supports the journal's editorial activities while respecting the journal's editorial independence and established decision-making procedures.

The publisher does not determine the scholarly outcome of individual manuscript evaluations.

Transparency of Editorial Governance

Information concerning the journal's Editorial Team, reviewers, Peer Review Process, Publication Ethics, Publication Charges, and other relevant editorial and publication policies is made publicly available through the Jurnal Desain website.

Editorial appointments, reviewer involvement, and manuscript handling are conducted in accordance with scholarly competence, independence, ethical responsibilities, and the requirements of the journal.
