Transformasi simbol budaya Asia berbasis sejarah busana melalui pengembangan motif sakralima pada modest wear

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kecenderungan pembelajaran mata kuliah Sejarah Busana dan Mode yang masih bersifat teoritis, alhasil mahasiswa mengalami keterbatasan dalam menghubungkan pengetahuan historis dengan proses kreatif perancangan desain. Pengetahuan sejarah sering kali dipahami sebagai informasi deskriptif dan belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal sebagai sumber inspirasi visual. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mentransformasi simbol budaya Asia melalui pengembangan motif sakralima berbasis materi sejarah busana serta menerapkannya pada desain busana modest wear. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis practice-based research yang menempatkan praktik penciptaan sebagai proses utama dalam menghasilkan pengetahuan artistik. Tahapan penelitian meliputi eksplorasi sumber visual budaya, proses stilasi lima simbol budaya Asia yaitu awan dari Cina, anggrek bulan dari Indonesia, sakura dari Jepang, mandala dari India, dan simbol Shou dari Korea, serta penyusunan komposisi motif dan penerapannya pada ilustrasi desain busana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses stilasi berhasil mentransformasi bentuk visual lima simbol tersebut menjadi motif sakralima dengan komposisi yang harmonis serta mengandung makna simbolik lintas budaya. Motif ini kemudian diimplementasikan pada busana modest wear sebagai bentuk reinterpretasi visual budaya Asia dalam konteks mode kontemporer. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi dalam menjembatani literasi sejarah busana dengan praktik desain kreatif, serta menunjukkan potensi untuk mendukung pengayaan ide dan sensitivitas estetika mahasiswa dalam eksplorasi perancangan berbasis warisan budaya.
