Perancangan motif stilasi Kujang Jago dan bunga Patrakomala sebagai salah satu representasi budaya Sunda

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan motif yang terinspirasi dari stilasi Kujang Jago dan bunga Patrakomala sebagai upaya pelestarian budaya Sunda melalui pendekatan desain motif kontemporer. Dalam penelitian ini, Bandung diposisikan sebagai salah satu konteks lokal dalam ruang budaya Sunda, sehingga bunga Patrakomala digunakan sebagai penanda identitas lokal Bandung dalam konteks budaya Sunda, bukan sebagai representasi keseluruhan wilayah dan keragaman budaya Sunda. Perancangan motif didasarkan pada bentuk visual dan nilai filosofis yang terkandung dalam kedua unsur budaya tersebut. Kujang Jago dipilih karena merepresentasikan kekuatan, kepemimpinan, dan keagungan yang menjadi bagian dari identitas masyarakat Sunda, sedangkan bunga Patrakomala merepresentasikan keindahan sekaligus identitas lokal Kota Bandung sebagai “Kota Kembang”. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode design research meliputi tahapan studi literatur dan pembuatan konsep, eksplorasi bentuk dan proses stilasi, digitalisasi desain dan pengembangan komposisi motif, pengembangan warna (colourway), serta pembuatan repeat pattern. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses stilasi mampu mentransformasikan karakter visual Kujang Jago dan bunga Patrakomala ke dalam bentuk motif yang lebih sederhana tanpa menghilangkan karakter visual utamanya. Motif disusun menggunakan prinsip repetisi yang didukung oleh keseimbangan, harmoni, kesatuan, dan irama sehingga menghasilkan komposisi visual yang estetis dan komunikatif. Pemilihan warna teal merepresentasikan kejernihan air dan kesejukan alam Kota Bandung serta hubungan masyarakatnya dengan alam. Motif yang dihasilkan memiliki fleksibilitas penerapan pada berbagai produk kreatif, seperti tekstil, produk fesyen, interior, dan suvenir kebudayaan, sehingga berpotensi menjadi media pelestarian budaya sekaligus penguatan identitas visual Sunda dalam konteks lokal Bandung.
